What Is Actinic Keratosis?
Actinic Keratosis are lesions on the outer skin layer caused by too much exposure to the ultraviolet rays of sunlight
They can also be an indication of the beginning of skin cancer. Typically, they appear in people over the age of 40, however, in some areas where the climate is mild year-round, like right here in Southern California, these lesions appear in much younger people. The most likely candidates for Actinic Keratosis are people with fair skin, blond or red hair, and blue or green eyes.
You know you have this condition if you have developed rough, scaly patches on your skin (called keratosis).
A history of sunburn can also increase the risk of getting actinic keratosis.
